This Week at Deer Run Oct. 27 | Indoor Shoes, Dress for the Weather, Clothing Donations, Halloween, Code of Conduct
Indoor Shoes
You are reminded that ALL students require a pair of indoor running shoes. This helps to keep our school clean and allows students to be ready for learning and participation in gym. Crocs, slides and flip flops are not permitted for physical education, due to safety. The snow has brought to light that many of our students do not have indoor running shoes.
Dress for the Weather
Please ensure that your child comes to school prepared to be outside. Students are outside for 45 minutes throughout the day. Boots, coats and mittens/gloves are necessities. If you need support acquiring winter clothing for your child, please reach out for a list of community resources that you can access.
Clothing Donations
For those with gently used and clean winter clothing, donations are being accepted at the following south locations:
- Calgary’s Farmers Market (south)
- Trico Centre
- Cardel South Rec
Halloween
With Halloween quickly approaching, we look forward to having a fun day here at school. We welcome students to wear a costume if they choose, and they may do so for the entire day. When choosing a costume, we ask that families take the time to consider if it is appropriate and respectful to all cultures, beliefs, and groups of people. We also ask that costumes not involve a mask. For safety reasons, we need to be able to see our students’ faces. Remember, we are a K-6 school so costumes that involve gore and weapons are not appropriate. Finally, classrooms will not be offering food to share. Students are welcome to bring their own special treat to eat if they choose to. Thank you for your understanding. If your child will not be in attendance on October 31, please call the attendance line.
Student Code of Conduct
We have been making a concerted effort during the past couple of weeks to educate our students on the CBE Student Code of Conduct. This version is written in student friendly language. Please take the the time to have a look and discuss with your students.
