Message from Administration
Dear Families,
Students and staff enjoyed our weekly assembly on Friday! Each class was invited to dance and show off their costumes or share their favourite dance moves.
Our Grade 5 students also entertained us with spooky stories filled with rich descriptive language.
If Halloween is celebrated in your home, we hope you have a fun, safe, and happy evening!
Remembrance Day Assembly | November 10
We will gather again on Tuesday, November 10, at 11:00 AM for our Remembrance Day Assembly.
Families are invited to join us for this important occasion as we remember and honour those who have served.
Poppy donations will be accepted in the Deer Run School office beginning Monday, November 2, 2026.
Time Zone Change & Road Safety Reminder
Alberta will move to the new UTC−6:00 time zone this weekend, meaning we will no longer change our clocks twice each year.
As a result, mornings will remain darker for a longer period of time.
We encourage families to speak with their children about the importance of road safety, especially when travelling to and from school.
Please remind your children to use designated crosswalks and remain aware of their surroundings.
To help improve visibility during darker mornings, families may also consider having their children:
- Wear a reflective armband.
- Carry a flashlight.
- Wear a toque with a built-in light.
School Parking Lot Safety
As always, we ask families to choose safety over convenience.
Please avoid:
- Walking students through the staff parking lot.
- Using the staff parking lot for student drop-off or pick-up.
- Jaywalking with students across the middle of the road.
Thank you for helping keep our students, families, and staff safe.
Thank you for your continued support.

SkipTheDepot Bottle Collection
Did you know that bottles and cans can be returned to a bottle depot for cash?
While recycling is a great way to help the environment, returning bottles can sometimes be time-consuming and messy.
SkipTheDepot takes care of the work for you while allowing you to support Deer Run School at the same time!
Deer Run School now has a SkipTheDepot account, making it easy for families to donate their bottle refund proceeds directly to the school.
This service is completely free, saves you time, and supports our school community.
